-The Estate

In the spring of 2017 during my lunch break I wandered into the Regent’s Park Estate, and immediately fell in love.  It became my ‘favourite place’, a term coined by my daughters who patiently followed this journey which took over 3 years. During this time, I returned weekly, creating books and reference maps documenting changes which occurred in the same spaces. When I commenced this project, I had no idea that most of the estate would be demolished as part of the HS2 project. By 2021, very little of the original estate and community remained.

(This detailed laundry series is part of the bigger project entitled ‘The Estate’)

When I discovered that this place was marked for demolition, I became very emotional. I felt like I wanted to give something back, to recognise the life it had once breathed. Printing the site specific photographs on canvas and hanging them back on the original washing lines was my way to honour the life I had found there.
